Every time that I have tried since then has immediately gone to “update failed”. then when I checked again, the battery had died.Ĩ. Update seems to be working! Camera battery fully charged. They said that for Hero3, I actually have to transfer the files WITHIN the update folder to the microSD card, which I do (after reformatting).ħ. Repeated this step multiple times, reformatting after each failure.Ħ. Download update, transferred update folder to microSD card. They manage to get me logged in with what they claim must have been my serial number.ĥ. Contacted GoPro support again when I was unable to download the software update because 2-3 digits of the camera’s serial number have rubbed off (it’s had 6-7 years of steady use and I definitely don’t have the packaging anymore). Bought a microSD card adapter (I’ve got a MacBook Pro that only has USB-C ports), erased and reformatted microSD card as I was instructed.Ĥ.
They told me I had to do a manual software update.ģ. Tried reinstalling app and re-pairing camera but no luck.Ģ. Updated my iOS, GoPro not found on the app.
I’ll try to keep this concise, but the bottom line is that I can’t complete the manual software update for my Hero 3 White and so now the camera is nonfunctional.ġ. Just found this subreddit and I’m kicking myself for not looking sooner.
